
How to measure your dog
For standard kilt
Measure length from the neck (where the collar rides if it is a regular collar) to the base of the tail. A on diagram.
Measure from the neck (same place as above) to the spot you consider is the "waist" for the Torso.
Measure snugly around the dog’s middle right at the spot of the waist, measure around the circumference for the Waist
Measure from the waist to the base of the tail for the length of the "skirt".
Most Westies measure between 17" (43 cm) to 21" (53 cm) around the middle and between 6" (14.2 cm) to 9" (23 cm) to the base of the tail. Scotties tend to be slightly larger.
For a Vested Kilt
Weight of the dog
Measure length from the neck (where the collar rides if it is a regular collar) to the base of the tail.
Measure from the neck (same place as above) to the spot you consider is the "waist" for the Torso.
Measure snugly around the dog’s middle right at the spot of the waist, measure around the circumference for the Waist. This is a tricky spot for Beardies.
Measure from the waist to the base of the tail for the length of the "skirt".
Measure the circumference of the dog starting under the chin right over the middle of the chest - all around the sides, under the tail and back to the starting point.
